Karen Dunkerton started on Young Talent Time when she
was 12 years old, with her first song
"Rag Time Band".
She was a contestant six months prior to auditioning
and didn't win. She then auditioned along with 1,500
others and got down to the final seven. The producers
remembered her as a contestant and she made the team
along with Katie Van Ree.
She recalls the touring to be the most enjoyable part
of her Y.T.T. days, as she got to "muck around a lot".
When Karen left Y.T.T., she went on to do modelling
for a couple of years and worked at Channel 9,
co-hosting a morning show with Bobby Driessen.
Karen is married to jockey Darren Gauci and is
full-time Mum to their
four children - Jade, Breanna, Sean and Brooke.
Although she enjoyed her time on YTT, when asked if
she'd do it all again her reponse was "...probably not,
as you don't really have a normal childhood."
